i've got a war in my mind

enigma

your eyes are wide oceans where things go missing and never return.  there are chasms on your heart and there are days when the rain will not cease.  

i can’t relate.  but i can tell you that everybody has ghosts.  i have woken up tangled in bedsheets that are like chains, nightmares ripping sleep from my weary eyes.  i dream of journalists digging up the past, i dream of newspaper headlines abrasive as bleach, stripping back the lives we’ve forged and exposing things that happened long ago.  there are things we cannot even tell ourselves.  

answer me this: do you think you can go on?  your insides are at war with your mind.  salvation exists in pills, or so you were told.  and do you not realise what you are worth?  

let me tell you this: some day someone will give you their world, and you will crush it in your palm.  that’s the only way the world will have it.  you can not be loved in the ways you need, it wouldn’t do to give happiness to anybody.  you wouldn’t know what to do with it.  we are all destined to fall, and fail, and carry on.  but tell me this: are you brave enough not to? 

let me tell you this: there is no remedy for life.  
let me tell you this: in my own way, i love you more than you can know.  

do not drown in the oceans of your own mind, let small things bring you back to the shore.  even in the endless blue, there will be thorns.  there will be chains.  and i do not believe that is what you want.
